Prerequisites:
- Backup Your Data: Secure Erase permanently deletes all data from the selected drive. Ensure you back up any important information.
- Drive Compatibility: Secure Erase works on SSDs, so make sure you're erasing an SSD, not a regular hard drive.
- BIOS Version: Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version, as this will provide the best compatibility and features.
Steps for Secure Erase:
Restart Your PC and Enter BIOS:
- As soon as your system starts up, press Delete or F2 repeatedly to enter the BIOS menu.
Access the BIOS Advanced Mode:
- Once you're in the BIOS, press F7 to switch to Advanced Mode.
Navigate to the Secure Erase Tool:
- In the BIOS, go to the Tool tab.
- Select Secure Erase from the list of available tools.
Select the Drive to Erase:
- The system will display a list of compatible drives for Secure Erase. Select the SSD you want to erase.
Start the Secure Erase:
- After selecting the drive, the system will ask for confirmation to proceed with the Secure Erase.
- Confirm that you want to proceed. The system will start erasing the data securely.
Restart Your PC:
- After the process is complete, the BIOS will prompt you to restart your PC.
Your drive will now be securely erased, and no recoverable data will be left on the SSD.
