Steps to Run Preinstalled MemTest86 from ASUS BIOS:

1. Enter BIOS:

  • Restart your computer.
  • While it's booting, repeatedly press the Delete or F2 key to enter the BIOS setup.

2. Navigate to the Tool Tab:

  • Once in the BIOS, use the arrow keys to navigate to the Tool tab at the top of the screen. This tab typically contains various utility tools.

3. Select MemTest86:

  • In the Tool tab, locate the option for MemTest86. ASUS often includes this utility pre-installed in the BIOS on some of their higher-end motherboards.

4. Start MemTest86:

  • Select MemTest86 from the list and press Enter. This will initiate the MemTest86 tool.

5. Begin the Memory Test:

  • MemTest86 will automatically begin testing your RAM. It will run several passes, each testing different aspects of the memory modules.

6. Monitor the Test:

  • Let the test run its course. Depending on the size and speed of your RAM, this can take some time (a few hours for large capacities).
  • Ideally, let the test complete 4 passes for a thorough assessment.

7. Review the Results:

  • If MemTest86 finds errors, they will be listed on the screen. If no errors are found, the test will complete without any issues.

8. Exit MemTest86:

  • Once the test is complete or if you wish to stop it early, you can exit by restarting your PC. Press ESC to stop the test and reboot.

After running the test, if errors are detected, it's usually a sign of faulty or incompatible RAM modules. You may want to test each stick of RAM individually to isolate the faulty one if multiple sticks are installed.
