Step-by-step: Disabling "Fast Boot"

To disable Fast Boot in Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel:

    • Press Windows + X and select Power Options from the menu.
    • If you're using Windows 11 or 10, you can also type Control Panel in the Start menu and open it.
  2. Navigate to Power Options:

    • In Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound.
    • Under Power Options, click on Choose what the power buttons do on the left-hand side.
  3. Change Settings That Are Currently Unavailable:

    • At the top of this window, click the option that says Change settings that are currently unavailable (you may need administrator access to do this).
  4. Disable Fast Boot:

    • Scroll down to the Shutdown settings section.
    • Uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended).
  5. Save Changes:

    • Click Save changes to apply the new settings.
