Turn off ECO/Hybrid/Fanless Mode PSU

Some power supply units (PSUs) come with a feature called ECO, Hybrid, or Fanless mode, where the fan remains off until the PSU reaches a certain temperature or load. While this mode can reduce noise, you may want to turn it off if you prefer continuous cooling.

Here’s how to disable this feature:

  1. Locate the ECO/Hybrid Mode Button or Switch:

    • Most PSUs with this feature have a physical button or switch located on the rear panel of the unit, near the power input or on the side of the PSU.
    • It might be labeled ECO, Hybrid Mode, or Fanless Mode.
  2. Turn Off the Mode:

    • If there is a switch, simply flip it to the off position to disable ECO/Hybrid/Fanless mode.
    • If it's a button, press it to turn off the mode. In most cases, pressing the button will disable the fanless function, allowing the fan to run continuously or based on a more aggressive cooling curve.
  3. Confirm the Change:

    • Once you have disabled the mode, the PSU fan should start spinning as soon as the system powers on or when the PSU reaches a lower load threshold. You can check this visually by powering on your system and observing whether the fan spins.
  4. Restart the System (if necessary):

    • Some PSUs may require you to power off the system completely and then turn it back on for the change to take effect.
